We Confirm the Required Test With Your SAP

Your SAP determines which Return-to-Duty testing is required. We confirm the required test type with your SAP and make sure the DOT drug test, alcohol test, or both are ordered exactly as specified by the SAP.

Receive Your Testing Instructions

You receive your testing location and donor pass with the information needed to complete the test ordered according to your SAP’s instructions.

Complete Your Return-to-Duty Test

Go to the designated testing location and complete the required DOT test. Return-to-Duty drug tests are completed under direct observation.

We Complete Step 5 Clearinghouse Reporting

After the required qualifying Return-to-Duty result is received, we complete the applicable Step 5 reporting in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Move Into Follow-Up Testing

After Step 5 is completed, the process moves to Step 6. Your SAP’s follow-up testing plan applies after you return to DOT safety-sensitive work.
